Can I pay my auto registration early in California?

Not anymore. It used to be that you could pay up to 60 days early. The California DMV is advising everyone to wait until they get their notice in the mail. An additional change is that notices will be coming much closer to the expiration date rather than 60 days before it was due. The DMV understands that this is a big change for many people and they are allowing you a 30-day grace period in which to pay your fees.
